First American Hosts Strategic Discussion with the AHA

Last week, First American Healthcare Finance had the pleasure of hosting the American Hospital Association for a two-day visit to discuss the healthcare landscape, changes at the AHA, and ideas to improve the exclusive endorsement to benefit member hospitals. Doug Shaw, Chief Operating and Development Officer, and Kathleen Wessel, Vice President of Business Management at Health Forum, led an afternoon discussion on these topics.

The AHA’s vision is “of a society of healthy communities, where all individuals reach their highest potential for health, and much of the two-day discussion revolved around support to providers, to strive for this vision. With the provider world becoming more and more complex, Doug and Kathleen discussed how endorsed partners can help providers:

  • Do more with less resources,

  • Leverage technology to maximize efficiency,

  • Develop customized solutions in a world where
    providers differ so greatly.

Looking forward, the AHA and First American are both committed to advancing health in America. Specific focus will be given to access, value, partners, well-being, and coordination of care, and how to lead these initiatives in communities across the nation. Both organizations are also committed to helping communities beyond the four walls of the hospital, and support creating new models of care, services, and collaborators.
